Recap / Synth Club: Zürich

Here’s a recap from Switzerland with my mate @underredskiesdk. Big thanks to our friend @59perlen for inviting us to his @synthclub.ch event in Zurich! Friends, live electronic acts, hardware, synths and way too many cables…
To close the night I spontaneously invited @ashtomgram to perform with me. We played a full 144 bpm techno set while improvising our way out of it. Massive kudos to him for jumping on this last-minute challenge with me. That was fun. Music in the now.
(If you want to read the full recap from the weekend, feel welcome to scroll a bit more down and read the rest. I wanted to change a bit the format and share the full trip with you - I hope you’ll enjoy the read).
Video recap
Zurich, here I come!
Friday, September 5th, 2025
[06.30] Literally just came out of the shower! The night was short, I managed to sleep around 5 hours. I need to double check my baggage and leave for the airport. Today I’m traveling toward Zurich in Switzerland. I’ve never been there. I’ll be visiting my friend Matthias in his hometown for the weekend. I’ve been invited to play a set at the Synth Club event. Alright, it’s getting late. I have to go.
[07.41] I kinda always forget that I’m not that social. Waiting in line, mixed with many people talking loudly in public spaces… what would be the best way to avoid this situation? I sadly don’t have the answer. I guess I’ll always have to make the effort. I thought it would get better with time. It doesn’t at all. I passed security some minutes ago. Currently zipping my coffee while waiting for my friend Carsten (Under Red Skies). We’re flying together.
[10.41] And we are now up in the air. First time all alone without any passenger sitting right next to me. It’s actually very pleasant. Gives me a small break from “being social”. It’s funny how I always end up talking to strangers even if I’m not very enthusiastic about this idea. Currently enjoying being on my own. I hope it will be the same on my way back to Copenhagen on Sunday. Future will tell.
[01.27] First day in Zurich was rather smooth! We drove around to prepare the venue for tomorrow. We then spent the night at Matthias’s place. Bernardo prepared us a very good and tasty dinner. These grilled collie-flower were next level! I can definitely sense the lack of sleep. I tried to jam for a little while with the Digitakt but the inspiration is not there! I should just turn off the phone and get some rest now.

[16.37] Today started rather slow. After a long day commuting, I enjoyed a very deep sleep. We had a copious breakfast with Carsten and Matthias and enjoyed a cosy morning walking around in Zurich. We are now in the venue setting up for tonight. I always tend to be the first one ready setting up. Thanks to my minimal setup (Did someone said: Digitak?). Then it’s generally all about waiting for my turn to do the sound checking heh.
[02.47] The evening turned out great. Many genuine and curious minds came around. Enjoying the art while being interested in the technical aspect of our setups for the evening. I spontaneously invited Ashtom to perform with me. We played a full 144 bpm techno set while improvising our way out of it. Kudos to Alexandre for tagging along and jumping on this last minute challenge!
Back to Copenhagen
Sunday, September 6th, 2025
[12.33] What a weekend. Flying to Zurich for the Synth Club meeting was rather refreshing. This weekend went over way too fast, but I enjoyed every moment of it. The security control at the airport was rather fun. Got stopped aside this time. Seems like square drum machines are not that popular in the airport. Hopefully everything was handled with care and smile. Feels sometimes unreal to travels across borders in no time. In 2 hours I’ll be back in Copenhagen, enjoying my sofa and getting ready for the next adventure.
[14.21] I find the Anbernic so handy! Been revisiting Zelda a link to the past and Final Fantasy 5 Advance during the flight. Always good old fun. Dang - I’m tired. We should be landing in about 15 minutes. This time I’m sitting all the way back in the plane. We had a funny joke before take-off with Carsten while checking my sit. We saw sit 38A on the boarding pass and thought that I may had unlocked the sit in the toilet. It happens that I literally have the sit right next to it haha! Rather tight but tho, next time I may have to choose my sit beforehand. Not the best spot. Anyway, I’m out. Till next time!

cstl ~ is the solo project of a french native musician, composer and electronic music producer. Today based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Long sleepless nights and a certain vision of aesthetics brought this project to life with the idea to create a musical base throughout which cstl could play whatever he would feel like, without any boundaries. Mixing energy, melodies and samples to forge his own recognisable style. Through his music, cstl is sharing different feelings with only one philosophy: making music that is all together artistically, technically, and emotionally engaged in hopes of establishing connections with all interested people.
