Slow Fade

talking community, music, and growing up on Slow Fade Podcast by Stephen Boykewich (aka Good Sunset).

I recently had the pleasure of joining the Slow Fade Podcast for a conversation that went far beyond music.

host Stephen and I talked about some of the things that matter most to me: building creative communities, mentoring younger artists, finding meaning through music, and how seemingly distant worlds like electronic music and progressive metal can actually feed each other in unexpected ways.

we explored the journey that led me from my musical beginnings in France to Copenhagen, the evolution of my art as cstl, my experiences playing bass with ONLY HUMAN, and the story behind founding Petite Victory Collective. as PVC recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, it felt like a great moment to reflect on what it takes to create a community that remains welcoming, curious, and supportive over the long term.

some of the topics we touched on include:

  • building passionate creative communities without falling into gatekeeping or infighting.

  • becoming the kind of mentor and role model we wish we'd had ourselves.

  • the surprising connections between EDM and progressive metal.

  • how synthesizers and music-making can help reach young people who are struggling.

  • lessons learned from years of collaboration, curation, and community building.

it was a thoughtful, wide-ranging conversation, and I'm grateful to Stephan for creating the space for it. thanks for listening, and as always, thank you for being part of this journey.
