About “Too Late to Wait!”
On Thursday 23 May 2024 at Beboerhuset, the French Institute in Denmark organized a debate and cultural evening with the theme ‘new forms of climate activism’.

Faced with the accelerating harmful effects of our thermo-industrial civilisation, many governments have taken environmental measures to limit greenhouse gas emissions and the degradation of living organisms. But as the latest IPCC report highlights, the policies put in place in this area are woefully inadequate and more and more voices are being raised to condemn the inaction of our political leaders.
In the absence of a sense of representation, civil society is self-organising and new forms of mobilisation are emerging that sometimes go against the traditional practice of democracy. Climate marches, whistleblowers, civil disobedience, occupations, museum happenings... At a time when the existential threat of global warming weighs heavier and heavier on humanity, a renewal of democratic practice and debate seems more necessary than ever.
